Each of our pens are totally unique and meticulously handcrafted to enhance and preserve the natural beauty of the wood, turning it into a little “monument” of what was once a living tree. Only sustainable resources are utilized, usually dead trees, firewood or old fence poles. The oak tree is from the genus Quercus of the beech family. All Oak trees now growing in SA originate from trees that were imported by the Dutch during the time of the Dutch East India Company. In particular the trees were imported to provide plantations with a source of oak wood for making casks for wine production.
